I feel miserable right now, nose full of snot, headache, dry mouth, scratchy throat.

Today is my one day off from work.

I'm torn about taking off tomorrow if these symptoms persist because I don't if I'll be any good. Trying to work with a mask on to keep from inhaling the insulation while having to stop every few minutes to blow my nose does not seem ideal.

I've been working by myself removed from most of the guys so I'm not too worried about being contagious, though I know I am.

Should I just call the foreman by the evening to see if he would have a preference of me coming to work or staying home?

Or just suck it up (or blow it out), and go?

Hey guys,

Figured I'd come straight to the source to try and get an answer rather than get freaked out googling stuff all day.

Yesterday, my wife (20 weeks pregnant) was at the self-checkout at Home Depot. She touched the checkout screen with one hand and was holding the cart with the other. She said she felt a quick zap (stronger than a static shock, but less than a zap from an electrical outlet and pulled away quickly.

We've felt the baby move since and our doctor said all should be fine, but I'd love to get a professional opinion to get an idea of what happened and how much electricity she actually got.

Would appreciate any info you've got. Thanks!

"Unqualified Person. A person who is not a qualified person.

Commentary:

Workers who might be exposed to an electrical hazard as a work task is performed must be trained to recognize that a hazard exists and how to avoid that hazard.

Any person who has not received specific training is an unqualified person.

A worker who has been trained to perform a task might be qualified to perform that task and still be unqualified to perform any other task.

The characteristics of being qualified and unqualified are task dependent."
