Default Data cable pulls, EMT sleeves through walls, NO BUSHINGS !!

Been pulling Cat 6 and CAT 5e cables for data/computer, phone/intercom, and security cameras for a few weeks. We used existing 4" EMT sleeves through the block wall into the data room.

It just disgusts me to do all that work and not even put plastic push-on bushings on the sleeves. Someone failed to order them on a timely manner (or at all) before we started.

Even worse, the sleeves were never even de-burred by the original installer (or by us) , and our runs make a 90 degree right at the sleeve.

I was not on that end, dumping all the runs into the room, so I didn't notice until the other day that the edges had porta-band saw burrs.

There's got to be roughly 150-200 cables going in one sleeve, there's a fair amount of tension on them with the 90 and the 3 or 4 feet to the first J-hook. Those poor cables right up against the sleeve, mashed against that rough edge.

Oh, Wednesday, one guy went up there with a half-round file and did his best to smooth out the edges. Almost impossible behind those wires.
Yeah, and we have bushings now, so I had to split one and install it on the sleeve with all the wires in there. Not easy, and no guarantee that the bushing will remain in place (except the numerous wraps of tape I used while holding the split in the bushing as closed as I could).

I realize that we have deadlines, and when it's time to start, ya gotta move. But, I mean, not even any electrical tape or de-burring of the sleeve BEFORE we pulled any cables through???

I also wonder what the owner of the company would think if he saw all those cables going in that sleeve before the bushing was there. All the labor...cost of cable...whatever warranty the customer gets...service calls later...company's reputation...

All because someone failed to order a relatively inexpensive supply.

I hear ya on that one - Its almost a waste of time. Theres going to be cable issues very soon, if not immediately after termination. Going to have cables shorting out, and kinked C6 cables.... waste of money.

The hardest thing for me to understand as a mechanic is, why they didn't file the rough edges off and at least use tape before they got the bushings?

when free airing cables through bar joists, drop ceilings, and things of the such, your harness should have nice 90 bends and a slight sag to them. secure them, but leave a slight sag so if someone on the other end ****s up and needs more, then can get it. it also looks that much better. when your bringing a harness through a sleeve, wrap the whole thing in tape or a zip tie and secure it somehow so that your not putting pressure in a sideways manner on the pipe. you aint movin block, but drywall will break a bit along with the thin tin insulated walls that you see in food plants.

With all above points coverd and agreed upon.

Why in the wide world of sports do they pull this crap in tighter than a piano string?

Leave some fluff. Granted, the cable is destroyed,(most are alarmests').
It's data, Blame the termination guys. Or learn the entire process. That would be better for us all.

Just a thought.
