Default Fluke 233 Remote Display Multimeter

Has anyone tried this meter out? It seems like the perfect cure-all for alot of situations but before I invest I want to get some feedback by anyone who has tried it out.

I was going to get a 381 remote read clamp and maybe a 233 too, but I figured I can yell "What's the meter reading?" to the helper and I can yell that more than 30 feet.

Now I can sink that money into some other possibly unnecessary piece of test equipment.

I use a 233 when I service stationary battery banks. I had the company by me one and had it calibrated for that purpose. The reason is that most of my batteries are far enough away from the charger that I cant see the meter to read the display to adjust the charger. The 233 does a nice job for that. For general day in day out work I use a 1587 and a 337.

I like the idea of this meter but the 30ft. thing is making me have second thoughts. I wonder if they have one with longer range or if they might make one later with more range. I can hope I guess.

I am not sure about the 30 Ft separation. If I can remember I will measure mine tomorrow.

I did have some free time today and I did 2 experiments with the 233.
Our shop is 75' wide and the 233 worked fine at a 72' measured distance.
Then we took it outside and across the parking lot a easy 200'+ unmeasured the 2 halves communicated.
You must keep in mind that this is straight line ideal conditions.
I hope this will help you in making your decision.

Thanks a bunch for the input I appreciate you taking the time to find that out. I guess the 30' range is when a bunch of walls are in the way or something.

I want to know what type of range you can get out of one if you close it up inside a metal enclosure.

HOLD IT STOP STOP STOP
The detachable display meters are extremely hard on batteries. I called Fluke and ask them about this after I noticed that every time I went to use the meter the batteries where dead. They told me that even when the meter is off there is a slight drain on the batteries . They told me to remove both sets of batteries when I was not using the meter.

Weird... I think its uses are worth the headache though. I'm not sure I would of bothered if I would of known earlier but because of the other features I think this is not too bad of a disadvantage. Thanks for the heads up though.
