Any Complaints?
What are some of the most common complaints that builders and homeowners have about electricians? I am trying to help some of our customers become better business people and overcome the problems that their competitors have caused in the past.

My response to that one: "Then you didn't buy the right light fixture."

I had a customer so impressed with the panel I made up, he asked: "Do they make clear panel covers?" I always show my customers the final work before the covers go on, so, even if they dont understand what they are looking at, they can see what they paid for.

I do something similar to that. I go out of my way to show them the workmanship and detail of the work I've done for them, especially how strong the panel board is attached to the foundation wall. Routered edges are coming!

I find it helps with the whole "good feeling" the customer has when I leave. I want that customer to recommend me to their firends and such. The only way to get good word of mouth is just be better than the competition.

What rewire said.
Money is generally a bargaining ploy: especially if you don't do the things that rewire mentioned.

A tinner once asked me why electricians thought they were god or something on site.
I cautioned him to hold his voice down, Did he want to get struck by lightning?
Seriously though most complaints/problems seem to me to arise when
A) Electrical goes in before tin and/or plumbing and there's space or route conflict
B) There are changes the electrician couldn't have known about, especially last minute ones.
I hate to admit it but I can be as arrogant as anyone else when it's just not my fault. I don't mind changing things as long as someone pays. Stubborn AND overpriced!

yes - and would not take any advice that i had to offer
he knows way more than me and thats that
in his defense only two of the houses were his fault one of them was blamed on an incompetent helper - i dont care who did it - my biggest beef is blaming others for a mistake they made that should have been checked over before the job was finished

What height do you use?
I've never had that problem myself.

IMHO that's too high. I like them to be centered perfectly between the top of the backsplash and the top cabinet. In your case, you would be close to the top cabinet.
