Default Buy American

I personally do try to buy American made items whenever possible, even though this is getting increasingly harder.

I buy from a mail-order company Gemplers. They have in each listing in their catalog/site if the item is made in the USA or imported. You will be amazed at just how many things they have that are made in the USA.

They have everything from tools, to work clothes, shipping and packing material, AG products, auto/truck/trailer/ATV items, safety equipment, and shop garage equipment.

This is not a sales pitch and I have no affiliation with them at all. They are just one of the many mail-order catalogs I receive. I just like how many things they have that are USA made.

Check them out.

I've owned a 1987 Honda Accord (that thing is still on the road), but I just replaced it with a used 2002 Volkwagen Golf.

Was thinking about Tacoma's when I get around to ever buying a truck.

Wait...are there any American vehicles worth buying?

American vehicles worth buying? No, not really. Unless you can get yourself an '84 Cadillac Fleetwood. That is a nice machine. But buying a Toyota is buying American. Just happens to have a Japanese name. If I were going to buy a truck now, it would be a Toyota.

I'm more concerned with buying local than I am "American".

But even then, I just found out the small hardware store I like to buy from is supplied out of Texas. I guess on a global scale, that's still "local".

I went shopping for socks and my choices were China, Vietnam, Pakistan, or India.. I left without buying anything and I will try the mall over the weekend. I am going to do what I can to buy American since I am still working everyday. Got to support the people who still work here

Smartwool socks are American made. Very expensive, but awesome socks.

This company, Sierra Trading Post has tons of seconds and odd lots of high quality outdoor clothing and equipment.

Nothin' like a proper pair of socks.

I prefer the synthetic wool and acrylic blends. They stay extremely soft and prevent blisters. Natural wool is fantastic at keeping your feet warm in the cold (even if you get them wet), and a thin wool does a great job at keeping feet cooler in the hot weather.

I sit here typing, the only the not made in America I am wearing is boxers, and I recently found a source for those!

I buy jeans, plain t-shirts, and socks from a company online, I actually only found them online. I call my orders in,kind of old fashioned.
allamericanclothing.com is the web site. I did have to send the first pair back until I got my size right, but they have a size guideline on the site now. The carpenter pants were big!

I am not affiliated with these guys, just order from them. There are many others out there with the same type or services, competitively priced, just google american made clothing or something like that.

I am also about the local purchases when possible, some things just can't be found local, then I go to te web.

I'm thinking real hard about another new one too. They're practically giving cars away lately.

That is a great point. If you look at Europe, for example...IMHumbleO, the only areas that really truly "survived" WWI and WWII economics were the ones that relied mostly on "self-sustenance", this microwave society is slowly going to do us all in. Oooo the irony.....

We went to but a new car for my wife. I've always driven Chevys, but with the current state of affairs we were reluctant to go that route. She wanted a Ford Flex, and while we were at the dealer they made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a new F250 diesel PU.

We got a 3500 rebate on her 09 car, and an 8800 rebate on my 08 truck. They gave me a much better trade in on my 05 Chevy than I expected, add excellent rates, and there you go. We couldn't say no.

If you really believe that, then you have a diluted view on things.
