New work, @75 with no trim. (Includes labor to install trim) Customer then picks out their own style.

Old work, situation dependent. Easy attic access, power nearby, single gang cut-in w/dimmer, @225

I usually stick around the 100-125 mark. I recently did some slope cans, the can housing was 45, the trim the HO picked out was another 40. Needless to say these cost a little more.

Depends on who you've got to bid against, right?

It's easy to say "I wouldn't do it for that price!", but if that's what it takes to get the work in your market, then you've to to find a way to do it and make money or stay home.

^^^ Quite true. A lot of you high rollers would not make it in a competitive market like Los Angeles. Nobody lowers their prices because they want to, it's always in response to market forces.

I am in OC, I have lowered my prices on cans, I used to be 125 minimum for 6" but now am floating between95 and 125 depending on situation. Your right 1957 about it being very competitive, I try and convey the advantage of having someone with 15 years experience, insurance and workman's comp do it for a little more but some folks just care about the bottom line, oh well can't blame em.

65 thats hardly worth doing. I charge anywhere from 125-210 depending on type of can, type of house, and pita level. You have to figure that the material for a basic 6" can is 20 bucks a can. I charge seperatly for a new switch. Sometimes there is an already existing s/L you can use, like a center light that is being removed, in this case I wouldnt charge for a swich.

By 'stabbing and using Cheetah devices I trim out at over 50 devices per hour. The screws on the sides of devices are for lesser electricians who lack the dexterity to stab.
