The IRS called me up and told me I needed to pay my $8000 in back taxes. I offered to send 'em either a claw hammer or a toilet seat.

They weren't amused either.

They would be under no legal obligation to accept them.

I think they have a rule that all cash payments must be counted in your presence so paying in pennies may be funny until you have to stand around for several hours counting them.

Had this exact thing happen to me today. Guy calls me wanted an estimate to replace a service lateral to meter can. The riser comes up through concrete, and was pulled away from meter can about 4 inches. I gave him a price which included labor to break up the concrete and replace with new. He gasped at the price and then said....."but this house is a foreclosure, we can't spend that much!" I then broke down the price for him, to help him understand the cost a little better, but he kept repeating himself...."but can you do it for less, cause this is a foreclosure" .....go figure.
