Company stickers on panels
You guys put your company advertising stickers on panels? I see some from the old-timers, and some of them are pretty neat. There's one company that drilled the panel cover and brass riveted on a brass tag with their company name and information. This one, from today, is a pretty classy vintage advertising sticker:

We put a sticker on all the panels in renovation and new construction jobs. I'd love to rip the old stickers off panels on service calls and put are own up, but I would consider that unethical business practices, I guess. That's a pretty good question.
On a service call would it be ethical to replace a sticker from a company that doesn't exist anymore? Or put your sticker below there's?

If the company no longer exists, I don't see a problem replacing or covering their label. If they are still around, I would say something to the customer 1st.
We actually have magnetic labels, sometimes the people have taken them from the panel to use on their fridge.

I worked for a refrigeration company for a while that also serviced heating equipment and restaraunt equipment. We were encouraged to slap the company sticker on anything within sight at any customer's location that the company could possibly service in the future. I'd go through rolls and rolls of stickers within a couple of months. If I was on a service call at a restaraunt, I might put 10 or 15 stickers on various pieces of equipment. Looking back, I'm not sure if that's the right or wrong thing to do.

Those old sticker certainly are cool.
I love the really old ones where the phone number is something like "Phone 6394".

Yeah. The phone number on the sticker in my pic is "Central Office 4 - 4441". I just called it. It rings to an answering machine with a really old voice saying "You have reached Donna Shetter...". I wonder if that's the guy's widow wife? Same last name.

What I do not like is the companies that go sticker wild...stickers everywhere.
This did do convert very well but is one of about 10 different stickers my company uses.

more of a reminder.....
I have installed fences and have brass plate made with my name on them, and I have all plates put on fences I install. If I was doing this type of job I would just place my sticker next to theirs, mine is dated so anyone would know that I was the most recent one there. Question is do these really work towards the homeowner? I mean if the homeowner didn't call the number then either they are out of business, had prior issue with that contractor, or didn't really care to notice. Alot of clients I talk to don't even know they are there. In reality it would be the companies fault for not keeping the customer informed that they are still there for them such christmas card, or happy memorial or new year kind of thing. I know of other trade people I talk to dont' even send out service reminders! I have ALL mine in schedule and ready to print/mail out once that time rolls around, its actually critical to keeping my customer. My opinion is these stickers are really just to impress the professionals such as you and I that come along, its a trophy(reminder) to say I was here, and it helps to know when it was last serviced(hince date). I have found it useful when trouble shooting once called the company and talked to the guy who installed a new breaker in the panel. Done the same for Hvac. But think about the sticker that those people put in your car window when you get your oil changed, its nice to know the reminder to get your oil changed, cause you dont' remember the exact miles, but your not guaranteed or conveniently to have that company around when you need the service done.
Out of respect I keep the sticker there if Im keeping the same unit/fixture. But if im replacing obviously theres a new king of the hill,(of course until a new service company is called)
just my 2 cents
Kraze..

We USED to put stickers on panels but soon realized that you have no control over what happens to that panel after you leave. It could easily end up a disaster with YOUR name plastered on it.

Here is an example of why I don't use stickers. Mr. Electric has his name on THIS mess.

Looks like someone even put some Federal Pioneer breakers in that Federal Pacific panel. Shame, shame.

Looks like both Bryant (or GE) and Seimens breakers in the left box. And would that panel be rated for tandems?

It is actually indoors..a garage.
It wasn't the worst I've ever seen...but I cleaned it up a bit.....except for the MC out the side of the panel, I was happy. Only a couple of wire nuts in the panel

stickers in panel
My father always wrote in every panel "For service call Jack XXXmond", 406-273-XXXX got many extra jobs that way. He always bid his work.(high) no t&m. Always took unused breakers. & They still called him back for more work. Retired young & wealthy due to real estate investing. Go figure....He did continue to work until 70, Because he enjoyed taking peoples money too much.

Fridge magnets are a better way to go. They get seen more often anyway.
