None of the above. I think your poll needs some more choices, pretty diverse group here.

I added a few options. I don't think the OP will mind. I put myself down as an apprentice. I'm still trying to figure out this electrical stuff.

I don't see self-employed RAT there, so I guess I can't vote because I don't own a humongous company that owns 10,000 service vans and employs 5,044,500 electricians.

So you're neither an owner or employee of a contracting or non-contracting electrical company? I thought you worked for CBS?

I just pretend to own my own company. Thanks to my friends at the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation who can't seem to find the time to look over a few forms, stamp them and give me a five digit number.
Mark one for "Pretender"
That or maybe "Unemployed" would be more appropriate.

Go easy on them, they have many phone calls to ignore and extended breaks to take, don't try to interrupt them with production.
I hope you get set up soon, being out of work sucks.

Agreed... there's a lot of options on there that are applicable for me as well.

Begin Rant:
This is the third license I will be receiving from them. My journeymen I received after I moved here from CA. It only took them 7 months to approve it. They lost my paper work twice in the process; apparently no one knew how to handle out of state experience verification so my file got tossed around until no one knew who had it, TWICE. When I applied for my Master license application I included notes, stickies and extra details on everything, even a 2nd grader could have approved it in one sitting. It still took them over a month to approve it. I think I woke someone up when I called and they realized that my application was on the desk. Now with the Contractors license application it has been OVER one month, WTF? The secretary of state has already approved my LLC and I applied for both at the same time. Oh well, any day now... Then I can get my decals, make business cards, print forms, I can't do any of them without my license #, it has to be on pretty much everything in TX.
End Rant

You have a long way to go before you're able to work on your own but just hang in there and it'll happen one day. You might even one day be your own electrical contractor and offer advice to other electricians on an internet message board. So just hang in there and be a good listener.
