Business for me is pretty good, small residential work but I'm still clearing what I want to make a week and going into next year I will raise forecasts. Also hope that commercial and remodel work picks up in the spring.

And this is in one of the most wealthy places in California.
Dude are you serious? This isn't the Brentwood down in LA. This is Brentwood/Oakley.

That place is a cow town held together with bailing wire and duct tape.

I'm sure they got their man and he's probably the electrical inspector by day.

This whole liberal, "p*ss on the rich" thing makes me sick! It's rich people that enable others to get rich(er) as well. Damn man, take some economics why don't you.

Well, this is how it's supposed to work. I'm an entry level apprentice trying to get my foot in the door. Contractors like you are supposed to hire me, but here in Canada law doesn't allow slave wages, so that's why every non-union contractor in this city has a problem with hiring me. I bet when work gets better in in the spring they STILL won't be hiring. The contractors here have their sons, brothers, sisters, dogs, cats, and former prostitutes working for them. The economy will never be great here because of that fact. Rich people giving me a job? They're too F$#%^g greedy for that.

Just my two cents.

Huh? What you think a rich guy is going to lift a finger? Of course not. They have a group of flunkys that work for them. Then they hire someone like me or you to do the technical work that a flunky isn't capable of performing. What are you? A commy? I guess you believe in "redistribution of wealth" too. It's pretty simple, the money is out there, you just have to work harder than the next guy.

I must have got it confused with another. I've actually never even been to Brentwood.
Regardless, the craigslist post is still a joke.

To be honest any type of economy would be better than the one we have now.

Of course, just like every one else some rich people are different than other rich people. Providing tradesmen with work is one thing, treating people in an inferior manner because you are rich is another.

Some rich people are awesome, some are the scum of the earth.

Same goes for poor people and middle class people.

Yes don't you love it when they're the ones that called you then look at you like "You grungy construction worker wtf are you doing in my house?"

Or those pleasant service calls where somebody is practically under your ladder with a broom and a stop watch.

The problem with electrical work is that it's something people need.
People hate spending money on things they need.
People love spending money on things they want.

They'll hold off or go cheap on the things they need so they can spend more on the things they want. It's no fun spending money on the things you need.

How often do you hear someone bragging about how much they spent on their electrical work?

How often do you hear someone bragging about how much they spent on their stereo equipment?

Their thinking? These speakers have got to be good. Look how much they cost.

Their thinking? This electrician must be a rip off. Look how much he charges.

The things people want.

Haha. Thats a good point. I love it when they brag about a 5000 dollar chandelier , but when you charge 1500 to hang it, you are a rip off.
