Default ideas for marketing your services????

I'll try this question at this forum. Do any of you guys who are doing residential have any ideas for getting the publics attention? Have you tried any marketing to get your foot in the door? I was thinking of "Safety in the Home" I'd advertise having us come in and upgrade your existing hard wired smoke alarms ( I'd have an article from NFPA stating that smoke alarms should be upgraded every 10 years) with new CO/smoke alarms and upgrade your GFCI receptacles with new units for like an average price of $599.99 or something like that. Get people thinking about their families safety and I'll come in and fix other safety issues ( you know extras ) What do you guys think? Have you tried anything LIKE this or any other marketing ideas?

Too many variables for me to offer a fixed price on something like that.

You would have to impose some sort of limit like max 4 units each.

Let us know how you make out with such a marketing scheme.

Default well thats try averaging a cost.

You can state something like $599.99 will be the cost for an average 2 story 3 bedroom 2 bath house. Which include: 1 CO/Smoke alarm, 5 Smoke alarms ( by the way the ones Kiddie makes that talk are real WOW factors when testing them to homeowners) and 4 GFCI receptacles should cover an average installation anything more would be charged "EXTRA". I figure the costs are about $350.00 and $249.99 would be profit. You could change out everything in under an hour, not to mention the other work you could get once your in the door.

I study the ads where ever I go. Great ideas need to develope over time, I doubt there's any new way to advertize that will be far superior to all others.

Is labor included in that? How about other overhead expenses, such as insurance, vehicle, gas, tools, phone, advertising, etc?

$250.00 an hour is not bad it should cover overhead plus labor, this is to get yourself in the door you know other work will come from this. Besides I'm just implying here, I didn't say it a done deal. I was hoping to get some other ideas when I started this thread. I made up this idea on the cuff just to get people thinking of their own ideas. But I guess it's not working that way.
