Default IET and PLC Grad job seeking advice

i am about to complete an industrial electronics technology and programmable logic controls program from texas state technical college and will be re-entering the workforce very soon. can anyone in the houston, tx area point me to some companies that may have entry level positions open.

in our labs, we used allen-bradley scl 500 plc's and rslogix software, so i have actual hands on experience, not simulators like more courses use. and in my motor controls class, we used actual 3 phase motor, magnetic starters and vfd's. i guess i'm trying to say i didn't go through a "cookie cutter" program (not to knock other programs).

i'd really like to stay in the programming part of it. i really enjoy it and would like to make a career out of it. maybe some of you seasoned plc guys can give a new guy advice on landing or finding a job.

thanks

Interesting, you are just finishing this program and the only platform you learned was the SLC 500? Although there is a enormous installed base, the SLC is a legacy product. Did you have any exposure to compact or control logix? RSLogix 500 is a good starting point to learn on, but proficiency in the RSLogix 5000 environment is what you will need in most current (large scale) automation projects. Just curious if they exposed you to this.
