What there is no owner builder rule in the midwest?

Let him and his insureance deal with the after math.

On publicly funded jobs with "listed" subcontractors, that practice is strictly illegal, no matter what you call it. I once had a GC ask me for a 5% "buy back" after he listed us as the low bidder on a public project. My employer's son was on the state license board. He went to the first meeting with the GC and handed them his card. We never heard anything about a buy back again.

Use it to your advantage.

Guy's greedy right?

Tell him if he pays on time, you'll toss him 10% of the extras.

Let him sell them for you.

Cheers

I have a customer whom quietly gives me 1000's of dollars in referrals, so far about $18,000, worth. He moves offices and installs, moves office furniture. He gives out my card when he does a job. I probably should send him some steaks or something.

Nothing wrong with that. Word of mouth is the best advertising.

Maybe you could have some of his cards to give out. When I work with good tradespeople, I don't mind recommending them.

Default Kick back to the GC

I just had that happen the other day....the GC called to qualify our company and once I was done going over the details in the proposal, he said "knock another $500 off the price to get the job" ( I was already the lowest bidder and he was getting a good price) I just kinda chuckled and said "you're already getting a smoking deal". Then he acted like he didn't say anything. Probably lost the job over it, we'll see....
