I bought a new truck once and had a big payment and a year later I had a "used" truck with a big payment.
I agree.

Read Rewire's statement again very carefully. Because according to me your statement implies that there would be no financial benefit from purchasing a used "work van". Unless your gears are turning smoothly you, or anyone for that matter would be making a foolish financial mistake purchasing a shiny new "work van", and don't forget that insurance...... Heck, plenty of financial guys will even tell you a new vehicle is one of the worst purchases you can make.

I used to be a Ford man and have owned dozens of them since i started driving but i strayed to Doadge several times and i now drive two 2006 Duramaxs. I went to GM since Ford couldnt get their act together with Navistar. But Ford will be building their own diesel in house starting in 2011 so i most likely will be going back to Ford. One thing that most folks dont know, especially tree huggers is that Henry Ford was always environmentally conscious with his vehicles. He teamed up with George Washington Carver to develope plastics in house, those plastics were made from soybean oil. All door handles, radio knobs, shift handles and other trim peices that were plastic from the model A's, model T's to present were made from soybean oil. Toyota Prius cant say that. Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and Henry Barton even developed a snow tire that had garnet sand embeded in the rubber so essentially the tire gained traction by being "sanded" all the time but this concept never took hold. Ford motor company is still mostly family owned and operated and i beleive this is why they have survived as well as they have. I think that as long as the Ford family doesnt sell out to the banks or any other money greedy enterprise then they may survive another 100yrs.
