Default Opening for Business on Monday

On Monday I officially open for business and (despite all of my wildly inappropriate jokes) I hope to maintain a good reputation for electrical contractors in my area. Please take a moment to criticize my website http://fehnelectric.net. Oh, and don't concern yourself with my "feelings" because I misplaced those things a long time ago. Your Pal, Devo

That, my friend, is a custom install for my favorite pastime...burning styrofoam and baby harp seals. Thank you.

Here is my opinion.
Pros:
1. Good color scheme.
2. It's good that you have your picture on the site. It helps build trust. When you add employee's, add their pictures as well. When running calls, you can tell your customers they can go on your website and view the electrician who will be visiting their home. This is for safety reasons.
3. I like the Logo.

What you need in my opinion:
1. You need more content and pages to help with organic searches.
2. You need to put reasons why a customer should call you. What will benefit them. Typically no more than 6 reasons. Customers will loose interest.
3. Once you get rolling and start making some money, have a pro work on your site and invest in SEO.
4. IMO you need some decals on your van.

Good start to the website. Are you wearing sunscreen?

Looks nice. Best of luck!

A couple of things I would change:

1. Get rid of the tiled background. Looks cheap.
2. Use the Yelp logo attached.... doesn't have the "I copied and pasted and cropped the white background off but missed the rounded corners" look.
3. For the appointment scheduler, maybe have them input a couple of options. This may eliminate or reduce the number of times you have to email them back and forth because they want you there at a time you're scheduled somewhere else.

I like the company logo. Good job. Look at other electrical contractor websites to get ideas.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. I agree with you and this is an aside...I love your software, but I subscribed to it because of the way that you conducted yourself in the face of unfriendly criticism. You kept your cool and stuck to relevant points. You did not stray into the gutter where the lower life-forms multiply. You took the high road and you won 'em over with logic and sanity.

No. I told my wife I needed a photo for my new website. She said, "well, I gotta get to work so...". Out to the front yard we go and I grab the side of the van and she shoots this amazing, world changing photo that National Geographic is interested in...but seriously it's odd what angle of the business you choose to obsess on. For me it was pants. I had to have the perfect pair of pants. And I ended up with a stunning pair of Carhart Twill Relaxed Fit cargo pants. You should see them. They are quite handsome.

Ben, (I feel like I know you) thank you for the yelp sign, I'm going to use it, but I think the tiled background really represents the direction of California's economy! //blink//blink//

I'm sure startup costs are a factor, but when you get a chance logo your van with vinyl lettering or a wrap (I prefer the wrap) but for now get some shirts embroidered, and then take another picture for your site.

I agree with brushman, I have my picture and have had a positive response with customers telling me I came across as real.

California doesn't make you a Master electrician when you become a contractor?

Is Fehn your last name?

No real reason for asking just curious.

I like your logo.

The name of your company seems like I've seen that around before ? Which looks established.

And yes we do charge with a sliding scale (Mercedes in the driveway)

Did you say you like Cletis ? On your first post, I swear you were him
