Pa contractors licensing
I am curious to find out how everybody is writing their contracts for pennsylvania ( I am still pondering how I want to), The law says no hold harmless clauses ,So IF on a service revamp the inspector or power co dosent show up and the people loose a freezer full of food whos liable??, do you extend number of days for completion and tell them the power could be off for? days.
I think we need a price increase .
Also I wonder if the attorney general is going to police the unlicensed people on craigs list?

The best thing is as a consumer I never heard about this law before. This board is the only place I heard of it.
Again another law with no teeth. Be sure to pay your $50.
Include this number 1-888-520-6680

Yep will be for years to come to. They finally forced the citizens who continued to stay there to leave.

I don't want to be a jerk or get technical, but it is not a license. You are registering with the state. I did mine online 2 weeks ago. I have to go back and read what they want you to do.

I haven't put my contracts together yet, been too busy. My accountant's opinion is that we have to register with the Attourney General's office for a reason. If it was just a money grab for the state, (1) it would have been more and (2) we would have registered with the Dept of Revenue. Just a thought. I don't plan on breaking the rules to see if they have any teeth.

Kind of off topic but IMO this is just a sample of things to come. $50 per contractor every 2 years is hardly enough to have someone policing companies. Soon your contracts will be just 2 pages of legal mumbojumbo (SP) of what the state wants. Then in fine print you can have your mumbojumbo. Well enough of my mumbojumbo talk.

If this forces everybody to buy insurance,GL and when somone pulls a permit and they are asked to show w comp , This might level the playing field some. Way I read the law internet advertising also has to have a contractors # on it ,aka everybody on craigs list.

Hell Yea, I live 5 Miles from Centralia, and there are still 4 or 5 residents living there, once they leave the houses will be demolished, then the ground will probably be excavated and the remaining coal hauled out. Pagnotti Ent. Inc. has the rights to all the coal.

I think they'll almost have to tunnel mine it to be able to treat the air, no? I think if they stripped the overburden off that would make a spectacular black cloud over half the state for weeks.

I dont see how they could mine it tunnel/ deep and get ventelation to the miners without induceing more fire unless it was completely out, the heat is probablly emense .
Ever heard of fischer tropes , somone has an similar idea alternate energy source to burn coal seams out west in the ground and capture the by products as they come out of the ground, dont think it will fly in pa with horizontal shallow seams and the history of mine fires.

Pagnotti Ent. was strip mining the coal prior to 1968. Once the fire spread to the area of their strip mine they stopped mining operations. in the early 1970's Pagnotti offered to extinguish the fire for free but DER(present day DEP) did not go for the offer saying it was not worth it to save Centralia.
There is a book called "Unseen Danger" by David DeKok, available on amazon.com. The book tells the story of the fire and how many times the state refused to help the people, the book is a great read no matter who you are, I got it for Christmas and read it less than a day.
I have to drive by centralia tomorrow and take some pics and upload them to this thread.
