Default Teaching

We have been talking to a state licensed teacher about the possiability of hiring him on full time. He would be our part time sales person and teach our employees an electrical course. I was woundeing if anyone else has tried to just develope their own training program in this way? We could use mike holts material to accomplish the training. I know at least in TN you don't need any classes at all to become licensed just on the job training. I was thinking that we could start with employees that had no experiance at all and train them the way we want them to do the work. Have a small group of highly trained people doing the hands on field training of the guys. Any thoughts or opinions on this?

We have a full time nurse on staff that is a certified first aid and cpr trainer. That seems to work out very well. (she is also my wife and company partner though).

I think that's a fantastic idea. Most of the larger electrical contractors have their own in house apprenticeship program, of sorts. When you can't hire a qualified electrician, you have to grow you own.

Some large contractors in our area do that.
