We had a good one yesterday
A couple of weeks ago a woman called from about 45 miles away. We explained that she was outside of our service area and told her we couldn't help her. She called back two more times. On the 3rd call they gave her to me. She said she had heard about us and desperately wanted us to come to her home, why wouldn't we go out there , she was gonna cry if we wouldn't go to her house etc... I explained that due to the distance from our office and our workload, I would have to charge her a very high service fee in order to dispatch an electrician to her home. She asked how much and I said $250 just to go there. She agreed to pay it and we discussed some things she wanted done, it was minor stuff, change some fixtures and receptacles and discuss some other work. About $600 off the bat, I figured, why not it was worth it for that. (or so I thought)
Sooo yesterday was her appointment and Jim went out there. When he got there, the woman was annoyed because the truck didn't have a sign on it (we got it recently) He was wearing a uniform with a name badge with his photo. Then she said to Jim, well maybe you should come back a different day (it took him an hour to get there and we did some mighty schedule juggling to get him there). He said, I am here and I can take care of your issues now. She said ok, and took him to a bedroom, pointed to an outlet and said "Make that outlet work, how long will it take?" Jim told her probably not long but he would need to look at the nearby plugs to fix the issue. She said No Way! she didn't want him opening up any other outlets, just wanted him to touch only that one. Why couldn't he just flip something at the panel and make it work? She didn't want any of the other stuff done either. He said, are you sure? I can take care of it in a few minutes. Her answer.. NO, you can't open any other outlets and I don't have time for this, you will have to come back some other time. Really!! I don't think so! She squawked when he charged her the $250 service fee she had agreed to... isn't that a lot to not do anything? He was pissed. No more out of area calls I guess. We got a $50,000 whole house rewire recently under similar circumstances so I figured why not again. That woman was a nut too ( a drunk nut) but she hired us at least. What an oddball.
We had another one today too, but no time to write more now. Is it a full moon?

yeah, that was a good one. wouldn't mind one of those a month! Boy was she challenging to work with though. drunk by 2 every day and made the guys crazy. Also grossed them out but good by making out with her 30 yr younger boy-toy. evidently she is quite the matronly type. But hey, most work is good work. we love those whole house rewires.

More like nightmare. And it has a sad ending. He got arrested and had his face plastered all over our local paper. The story ends with him running an exhaust hose around to his car window, and sat inside and cut his wrist, before his sentancing. His issues were deep.

lol... whats the point of sitting in the garage with the exhaust AND cutting your wrist. Id just sit in the garage and go to sleep...
Dont feel bad, its natural selection. He knew he needed to go.
