Default Another film about photographing in public.....

...with security guards and police.
This one has a very satisfying ending though

London, UK
"On Tuesday 21 June 2011 six photographers were assigned different areas of
the City to photograph. Some used tripods, some went hand held, one set up a
5 x 4.

All were instructed to keep to public land and photograph the area as they
would on a normal day. The event aimed to test the policing of public and
private space by private security firms and their reaction to photographers.

All six photographers were stopped on at least one occasion. Three
encounters led to police action.

This is what happened.

Directed and produced by Hannah White
Edited by Stuart York"

Nice pull, This makes my blood boil, BUT at least the police understand the law.

The rent a cops need a good lesson in the rights of photographers and they look like buffoons.

But it's OK for the government to film civilians from pole mounted cameras . It's a problem for civilians because the greater powers have limited editing capabilities when outsiders film.

I can't address other countries, but there are no American laws that have been changed since 9-11 that pertain to photography.

If anyone wants a couple of good reads on the subject, I'd recommend The Law (In Plain English) For Photographers (3rd Ed.) by DuBoff / King and Legal Handbook for Photographers (2nd Ed.) by Krages.

Nope. They tried to enforce the wiretapping laws pertaining to the sound portion of video, but nothing that applied to still photography.

Though I have been stopped and questioned and told to stop at least once. Well I was within my rights, arguing with a cop in Nowhere Ville’s is not always wise.

Trains, airports and bridges seem to rile to local cops, as terrorist always hit the out of the way places.

I've only been approached once, taking this shot:

End of story.
And that is how it should end.
