Anyone strip paint off doors?
I have about 10 doors I need to strip, there's about 5 coats of paint and a coat of Poly. Did one tonight with stuff that I picked up at a hardware store and it took 4 hours and 3 beers shy of an 18 pack what does everyone suggest? There has to be an easier way, If I keep this up im going to need a liver transplant from drinking to much.

hahaha
Were you using Jasco paint remover? Its the best. Theres the jel type stuff that you "paint" on and let it sit for like 10 mins then scrape off... i know that works well too.

I have heard that works too... you can put stripper on, and pressure wash it off.

Brace your self!
(I'm gonna' state 'Liberal', 'Organic' and 'patience' in the same post) None of which I observe )
I got this stuff..."Citristrip" @ a box store. I could not believe how well it worked! You must put it on 'liberaly' and let it work..VERY small smell.Easy on the brain & organic (for the most part).
Patience is required...(needs time to work, as with most strippers (paint ).
I've had good luck with it. I bought a bunch in '04 (I dabble with furniture).
But here is an address: WWW.KLEANSTRIP.COM

Hang the doors back on the frame, then later in the night, smash the front door open with a sledge hammer, rummage through the house like a robbery, causing damage to the other doors as you go. Then call the cops and your insurance agent. Get some shiny new doors and maybe even a little pocket money.
Or you can give me a shout and I'll do it: inphase@dirtydeeds.com

If you pressure wash it off, you are going to allow that toxic stuff to runoff into the environment, whether it be into the storm drain or not, so I would highly recommend any other way than that.

if your door has a stain on it and you use a chemical remover it will bleed through after you paint it. I think sanding is the way to go. I stripped a door with chemicals that had a mahogany stain on it and to this day I am still adding paint to it to hide the stain underneath it. Ive used klitz and everyother stain killer and it still has managed to bleed through. The pressure washer wont work, your only gonna warp your doors and possibly damage them. Water and doors dont really get along to well. If you use water on them you might as well throw them out.
