Default east coast beaches

I'm thinking of taking the wife and kids to the east coast this summer. I have been to Myrtle, but I have heard Virginia Beach was more family friendly. Any suggestions?

Try the Outer Banks. Great beaches, and pretty laid back. Not as commercialized as Myrtle Beach or Va. Beach.

Im all about being laid back. but my kids need a little hustle and bustle to keep them occupied. we like someplace with plenty to do and see. keeping the mini golf and skanky spingbreak types to a minimum

They might be bored with the outer banks.

Rhode Island is pretty small. Is it a stupid question to ask what area to try? Something on the beach, plenty of seafood nearby.

Southern RI has all the good beaches, along with Newport. Newport is a world class vacation destination with great beaches nearby. Seafood can be found anywhere year round.

The best beaches on the "east" coast - anywhere along the Sea of Cortez, south of San Felipe.

My 10 year old goes camping with her school to the outer banks every summer and she and the rest of the girls love it, they stay for 10 days this year and she cant wait to go back. Lots of stuff much more fun and educational there than Mytrle or Va Beach mini golf courses and go cart tracks.

Girls that age would love St Augustine, FL.
