I just saw that story myself on CNN.. I've personally never understood what in life could be SO bad that your last/ final option is suicide.

A lot of these guy blow all the money they make being a "star" on the field..

When they become unemployed.. there is no money left to sustain the lifestyle they are used too..

I hope they use Junior as a role model for what not to do when your making millions playing a "game"..

I am guessing what happened to him.. but it is an old story with people who go from top of the pile to bottom of the hole in a heart beat..

In his career, he tallied 1,849 tackles and 56.5 sacks. In 38 games for the Patriots with 16 starts, he totaled 161 tackles (100 solo), 4.5 sacks, three interceptions and five passes defensed.
Seau is the eighth member of the 1994 San Diego Chargers, the team that lost Super Bowl XXIX to the 49ers, to die at a young age. The other '94 Charger players that have died: Chris Mims, David Griggs, Rodney Culver, Lewis Bush, Curtis Whitley, Shawn Lee, and Doug Miller.

Possible mental issues, depression, family issues, depression, bad health, depression, drug or alcohol dependence, depression, bankruptcy, depression.

Many things lead some folks to think they have nothing to live for, you can be successful, rich and look like you have the world by the balls to everyone around you yet, the taste of a bullet seems the best medicine you can think of.

Customer of mine, successful EC, stopped on the side of the road, while on the way to work last week and ended his life.

A great loss for sure. However, I do not see him as needing any money. He has only been out of the league a short few years and I know he made his fortune in football.
I could be wrong, but I do not think money had anything to do with his death.
People kill themselves for lots of reasons.

"Seau's death, by gunshot wound to the chest, is similar to the way former Chicago Bears defensive back Dave Duerson died of suicide. Duerson shot himself in the chest on Feb. 17 -- a method used so that his brain could be examined for symptoms of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a trauma-induced disease common to NFL players and others who have received repeated blows to the head."

Until I read this, I was thinking a self inflicted gunshot wound sounded fishy.

Sad news.

Sad to hear. I lived in San Dog when he was in his prime playing for the Chargers, he was a great guy that did more for the community than any sports star I can recall. I hate to think of what happened to him.

I had a very close, brilliant friend of mine with a great job and a beautiful family commit suicide a few years back, an ugly downhill slide that happened to fast for any of us to help him. You never know.
