I didn't know they still practiced these customs in Europe as they seem a bit archaic. But I was talking to a guy last week that overheard me talking about the "journeyman" position and thought I was referring to these tradesmen that travel all over the place.

I did a service call for an old lady, who I really had no intention of charging. She paid me with a nice meatloaf dinner anyhow. That's the closest I've ever come to the custom in your article.
