How to Post Photos and Images
In order to post (insert) photos and images on this forum, the image must have a URL address. Something like http://www.hereiswheremyphotoisstored.jpg. (This is not a valid link, so don't try it)
Images on your computer cannot be displayed. You must have this URL address in order to post a photo.
How to post photos & images:
1. Open an account at http://www.photobucket.com. It’s free.
Upload your images there.
2. Remember that the larger the image size, the longer it takes to upload and download. Keep that in mind, especially for our users that have dial-up internet service. If need be, please resize your photos before uploading them.
3. When you want to post an image, find the image in your Photobucket list, and there will be four lines underneath it. The second line will be titled "Direct Link", and will have the URL address for that image. Highlight that line, then Copy (Ctrl-C) the information. For this demonstration, I will use my image of a 1953 Codebook.
4. Now go to the thread you wish to post a photo in, and begin your response. When you get to where you want to insert an image, click on the yellow icon with the mountain & sun (that is supposed to be a ‘photo’).

5. A small window will appear, asking you for the URL of the image.

Paste (Ctrl-V) the information you copied earlier into the line. The URL address will then appear. Click OK.

6. The image you selected will be displayed in your response.

Continue with your post as normal, editing as needed.

480sparky, and everyone else who chipped in,
Same as the others have expressed here, thanx for the good input, and for your time (time is how we get paid!) Guess I'll have to get with that photobucket program. (Your cigar post was great).
You'll be sorry you turned me on, once I cypher it out . . .
Good forum here. Should have know about this forum in the first life. The forum wasn't here in ought two though (thats 1902)! Layden jars were just coming on line at the time
We figured out the wood boards later, after they changed our service to A/C
Best Holiday Wishes

I always post pictures from my PC, not Photobucket. Whats the difference? I use "manage attachments" and "browse" my pics.

There's a very small size limit when you do it that way, since the pictures are actually copied onto Nathan's server. When you post from a photo sharing account, you're just seeing a picture via a link to where that photo is stored.

This thread is a good example of why a size limit is needed. People post big pictures, then it makes it hard to read the posts. I sometimes ignore threads that are distorted like this one. One guy said he could not post, only to find out the button was hidden on the far right out of view.
Can you explain the advantages of using a service like photobucket? I really still do not understand. Thanks John

When you use a file sharing system such as photobucket you use photobuckets memory, not electriciantalk.com's memory. It makes electrician talk cheaper, and that important to us.
