Default Iowa tornados

My best wishes go out to you folks living in Iowa who sustained loss of any kind from the tornados.

Todays evening news interviewed about ten Boy Scouts whose camp was devastated by the storms. What a tribute to the Boy Scouts, the Midwest, and to the USA. Every one of those young men in the interview were polite, concise, and clear eyed, not to mention qualified to render aid to their not so fortunate fellow scouts.

Good job, young men.

Rhetorical question: wouldn't you forum members like to train any one of them as an apprentice?

Thank you for the links.

Michael Chertoff won't get any warm fuzzies in Iowa, will he?

"Chertoff will ask FEMA to stop by in a few weeks"

Iowa Gentlemen,

First it was those tornados, now the floods.

My 6pm news states that 'almost all of Iowa is underwater". What is the truth here?

I hope that you men and your families are OK.

Lessee, here. Iowa is, on average, about 850 feet above sea level.
Now, if 'most of the state' is underwater, what about Missouri, Illinois, western Kentucky and Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana? In other words, the rest of the Mississippi River basin below us.
Seriously, there is flooding, mostly the eastern part of the state. But by no means is 'most of the state is underwater.' Most of the state has floods occuring, or are under flood watches & warnings, but area-wise, I'd say a fraction of 1% of the state is actually underwater.

Not to beat a dead horse anymore, however my evening news just reported for the second day that 'almost all of Iowa is underwater".

Maybe the writers don't know what "Most of the state has flooding problems" means.

Maybe you should start selling gopherwood here.

I live on the west side of the state. We have no flooding. It is all in the eastern part...Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Iowa City, etc....

The weird thing about the tornado that hit the boy scout campground...I was there a few times when I was younger and a boyscout. Probably less than an hour from the city I live in.
