I had a temp job as teenager emptying the old files of a large greeting card company that was moving locations.
The info they collected on their employes was amazing. In the 50s and 60s they were sending private detectives to interview neighbors, church members etc.
'Neighbors said they fight a lot'
'He likes to drink' etc.
These employes were typically company sales personal.

They are calling this news? Especially this "shoulder surfing" they talk about in the vid.
Some companies have whole departments devoted to digging up every little bit of online info they can on new applicants. That's been going on for awhile.
Don't like the password thing, don't give it to them.
I don't blame them, I don't want to hire you either if you have crappy judgment and post stupid trash online and are friends with a bunch of drunk losers.

Believe it or not, I have been witness to some local companies looking at Facebook activities of applicants before calling them in for an interview. At the time I thought nothing of it, but after watching this, I guess it may be a tool that some use to weigh their options based on what people publicly willingly divulge.
Like they say, once it's on the net- it's forever.

People have been fired for "inappropriate" comments on Twitter and pictures on Facebook, and even arrested for posting pictures of themselves that violated terms of parole.
If you're gonna willingly give the world that much access to your life, be prepared for the consequences that come with it. I have little sympathy.

Anyone is free to look at my Facebook page. Doesn't bother me one damned bit.
They ain't gonna find anything because there's NOTHING there.
They don't need my password to look at it, either. But that's Fox News for you.

So in other words ,, there are good reasons for Trolls to be trolling.
.
Like Hank William's sang,, All My Trolling friends have settled down.. :-)
and FWIW,, I paid cash for my morning coffee.

No, but depending on your setting you have to 'friend' them for them to see any posts or pictures.

I'm pretty sure my boss doesn't know what the Internet is. I should be okay.

You want access to my private life and can't trust me to run it in a respectable way I suppose we're both going to have issues. You're not going to hire me unless I give it to you and I'm not going to work for you if you require me to give it to you.
That being said I voluntarily add people I work with.

Part of the problem is too many sheeple will not see what is wrong with this. They're hopelessly addicted to social sites to begin with, so they merrily comply. Enough people voluntarily surrender their rights, and before you know it, that right no longer exists.

That is right, we should all live our lives per your personal ideas of what is right and what is wrong.

You obviously missed the fact that no one is bound by law to surrender their right to refuse "Friending" the potential employer.

I don't have a Facebook page. I see all my friends in real life, face to face. So now what do they do? I do not agree with this.
