Professional Sports....?
For the first time ever I really think professional sports are a lot of whooee.. They are more about entertainment than real competition.
I am still having a really hard time getting over that Saints-Vikings game and all the bad calls that were made...And FWIW Im a Jet fan and really didnt watch the Bowl untill the last quarter...
I feel like "they" really wanted the Saints to finish their story book ending...
And now with the Winter Olimpics happening all you hear about is drugs, dopping, and what ever else that compels people to cheat to win at what ever cost.....
Im not even gonna get into boxing....a sport that I used to love to watch back in High School...
Baseball is a big e-fing mess with roids and tainted records.
Football was my last hold out and now I think they are on the take too. Does anyone else feel this way......? How could they possible miss all those calls..? And with replay and all....its just not possible....And then after all was said and done, the refs came out and basically said.."Ugh ..yea we screwed up a little". I dont believe them......not one bit.

one of the reasons I love college FB so much is they aren't paid, they just love the sport and if they are really good, they might have a chance at the pro level.

Imagine not having instant replay or being able to challenge! It's gotten better, I guess; with the advent of all the new camera angles and such, people will cry more about bad calls, myself included. I'm not one to believe in the conspiracy theories about team favoritism, but all in all, you are arguing balls and strikes.

I was really fine with it, I understand they are going to miss calls here and there but IMO that game was pretty much the Super Bowl. I had feeling the Saints were going to spank the ponies. But all those bad calls....These guys are supposed to be the best of the best. Maybe they need another zebra on the field. I dont know.....Im just saying...

Nah, pro sports is the pinacle of athletic competition. I also like college sports. I prefer pro football over college and college baseball over pro. As far as the Saints /Vikings games...yeah there were alot of bad calls, but these guys are human and at game speed some calls are harder to make than others. Some call just boil down to a judgement. I kinda see your point when you say "they" wanted teh Saints to win. I remember the Saints played the Giants after 9/11 and I remember saying about all of the bad calls. It was like the NFL wanted that team to win at any cost.

I might be the only guy like this, but I simply cannot derive enjoyment from watching a bunch of millionaires chasing a ball around a manicured hayfield.
Watching a game at the local high school.....now that's fun. Of course, I usually know a few of the players, and a bunch of the other parents in the stands, but non-pro sports seem more enjoyable to me.

The thought of Pro Football being on the take is enough to make me really sad.

I was eight years old when I went to the '66 World Series and made that comparison. Saturday afternoons were perpetual wrestling matches on some old mattresses in the basement.
I saw this with my own eyes:

I bleed purple and watching my Vikes lose that game made me sick, sure the Vikings made some dumb mistakes (And fumbles) but the refs blew it on the missed roughing call (Which ended up as a fine for the Saints but somehow no flag), that should have been 1st and 10 in the red zone, but eneded up being Saints ball.
Then it got worse in OT. Pass interference on a ball 10 yards over the recievers head, should have been a punt but was 1st and 10 for the Aints. And the 4th down run that was a fumble but after review (Which clearly showed the ball out of his hands and not close to the 1st down) somehow ended up 1st down Saints.
So that is 3 possesions after the 2nd part of the 4th quarter that the refs took away from MN. Bunch of bull, I did not watch the "Set-up bowl" for the first time I can remember.
And....us Minny fans were still hurting from the blown call in the Twins- Yankees ALDS. Come on, they have a $220M payroll, do the umps need to be on it too?
