Default Superconductor

I saw a show last night that had a segment on superconductors. This was new to me, but this may have been discussed here before.

It looked like a single round cable with 3 phases in a circular pattern insulated in between. It also has a nitrogen filled core and outer cover. It looks like one conductor but the cross section view clearly showed the separated phases. It was shown as an alternative to standard conductors as it can be easily arranged to prevent power outages by bypassing or other means I did not fully understand.
Has anyone seen this show or know about this superconductor?

It has to do with subcooling wire so you can ship the most current on smaller conductors, without line/current loss.I think the intent is to be able to use existing conduits to increase capacity using smaller wire. This is my take.

Anyone know of superconductor materials being used in motor development?

Some super cooled 'super conductors' actually show zero resistance to the flow of electricity.

I don't know jack, I just remember being blown away when I read about zero resistance.

I am not sure how they could incorporate this conductor into a motor frame with the product I saw. I guess as they get better at doing this it could be included in most everything we use.
Imagine never having to worry about voltage drop again!

Rush has a song called "Superconductor". Killer song.
