Tattoo's who's got 'em?
Hey guys I'm going to be getting my first tattoo very soon just thought I'd ask what everyone had to say about them, and who's got them. Anybody have any quarrels with the boss about them? Every shop I've worked for has had at least one extremely ink'd guy working there but I never know where i might be next!
I'm going to be getting my daughters name inside of the Chevy bowtie on my right forearm anybody have one there? hows the pain in that area?

Why would you want to permanently butcher you skin for the sake of a fleeting fashion fad?
Think ahead 20-30 years from now .....will you still want it there?

I have my wifes name on my my left shoulder blade and an albino anubis on my right shoulder blade. Also covering the entire back of my right calf I have a werewolf under a full moon within the an omega symbol that has a rose at its base.
I don't know much about having problems with people because of my tattoos since they have always been covered. I used to have two lip piercings and am currently down stretching my ears to normal from a 00 (I took all of these out due to OSHA compliance) and I never had any problems with those, I also never had any problems when I had an 8 inch mohawk that was once red and black, once green and once blue and orange. For the most part of sense of humor and willingness to joke back with people rather than getting offended diffuses any potential issues that people would have with looking out of the ordinary. But then again, I haven't been working in the electrical field yet so the world may be much different than I have experienced.
As for pain, personally I found the one on my calf the most painful. It took between 8 and ten hours to do across 2 days so, the second day my leg was swollen and tender so I felt every poke and had a hard time keeping my leg still. The two on my back were not bad at all. The further down the needle went (towards soft tissue and away from bone) hurt more, but the great thing is that after being outlined with one needle, the shading done with the 4 or 5 needles at a time almost feels like a massage.
But, be careful getting tattoos they are unbelievably addictive and are a very expensive habit. I have seen a lot of people just go nuts and start getting one a week after their first. But, definately good luck with your tattoo. I plan on getting something to commemorate my daughter once she is a little bit older and I have a better example of her personality.

I am a Marine, I have several tattoos BUT, not one can be seen when I am wearing a regular tee shirt and pants. It's one thing to be inked but another to look like a professional while working. IMHO, I don't like the look of sleeves and hate facial and neck images the most. If you want your daughters name or something like that, why not put it on your bicep or above the shirt sleeve line?

Neck tattoos are the worst, they always look stupid and make you look like a con.

I have 1 on my right arm. Connects Viking and Lithuanian heritage. I got it about 2 years ago. The pic. was when it was 1 day old.

Tattoo's are a personal choice, a bad personal choice in my opinion.
I live in a NO TATTO ZONE, my kids know not to come home with one OF ANY KIND. You are destroying the best art form on earth your body.
When I was 4 my best friends dad had several from WWII, I'll never forget staring at them and he got down in my face, all 6'6" 400 lbs and said
"Don't you ever get a tatoo, They are permanent and they are ugly, the only people getting tatoos are either drunk or crazy, I was drunk."
That stuck with me.

No tattoo's here either, but I would consider one probably my wife's name or something on my upper arm. I had a lot of friends get looney tune's tattoo's in high school in the early 90's. Including one who had marvin the martian next to the mickey's bee. And the wiley coyote saying " beep beep my a$$" I would have been dumb enough to get one then if not for my dad and his constant threats. Although he would allow an earing. Only if he could pierce it with his .22.

I agree with you and Random.
IMO anything noticeably above the shirt collar screams TRASH. Celebrities and sports "stars" included.

I've got a tattoo on my left forearm. Its a flying heart with my wife's first initial in the center. I did it my self when I was 16, and had it professionally re-done when I was in my mid 20's. Has it caused me any problems in life? No, but I wouldn't get one today. Luckily, 25 years later we are still together or it might have caused me problems after all. I would have been limited to only being able to date women who's first name starts with "D".
The tattoo on the forearm hurt, but not that much. I used to want to have Reddy Kilowatt tattooed on my bicep, but I outgrew that. In fact, I've outgrown the desire to write on or stick holes in myself all together. Oh well, I guess that makes me an old fuddy duddy but I can live with that.

I have two from my days in the Corps in Oki, they were done by hand there with bamboo pens. They are out of sight in a short sleeve shirt. I was in a unit before Oki that frowned on any type of distinguishing marks, so I did them on a drunken whim as soon as I was reassigned.

Along with neck tattoos I'm going to throw in hand tattoos. Anything that can't be covered up is no good unless you are a tattoo artist or in prison.

I saw an old friend I used to work with today, his new tattoo is a pair of brass knuckles on the back of his hand.
What was he thinking?

It would be cheaper and easier to just buy a set of brass knuckles and wear them around once in a while i would think. Plus you could take them off for work and job interviews and working in old women's houses

Then there is the old standard.
LOVE HATE forget which hand gets what.
Or Jesse James Tattoos in the palm of his hand "PAY UP SUCKER"
Or my old neighbor that had 5 different woman's name on his arm, all his EX's and the present Mrs Puesy.

I personally have two tattoos (both of which are covered by a short sleeved t shirt unless I am working with my hands above my head.) I have an armband around my left arm that I got on my 18th birthday and my last name down the back of my right arm (only four letters...not anything too long.) That I got about two years ago. I like them both and do plan to get more eventually. Anything that I get will be able to be covered with long pants and a t shirt. It is very addictive so I won't allow myself to get tattoos frequently. I have to wait at least a couple years in between so I don't run out of real estate too young!!!
I think the forearm tattoos are cool, but I would not get one because it is not very concealable. I don't like neck tattoos because I have never been to prison.
My grandpa is covered in tattoos and is your stereotypical biker. I keep trying to get him to get DOT tattooed on the back of his bald head, but no luck yet. I think it would be hilarious!!

I have my family coat of arms on my back between the shoulder blades, which is easily covered with a Tee and a naked Devil woman on my upper arm that I had done when I was 17, I want more and they will all be in concealable places.
As for face/neck/head tattoos, whats with that?

I guess the face ones would give you a point of aim if the guy was breaking into your house, other than that I guess maybe it's a prison camaraderie issue.
