For 30 grand, you ought to be able to buy just about anything. That's a seriously huge budget for a 1 ton. 40 foot is pretty darned tall for a 1-ton, however. You're usually in the 29-32 foot range on a 1-ton chassis.

I get monthly magazines with lots of dealers in used bucket trucks. What part of the country are you in, generally, and I'd be happy to scan in some recent ads from your area.

for 40 foot bucket truck IMO better off use the med duty truck because i have 55 footer on med duty truck and you mention one ton truck my main condersation is the weight that really kinda pushing the limit normally for one tonners most useally limited to 30 footer due the weight.

belive me they will trip the scale pretty fast with it and there is tons of med duty bucket truck what the POCO been using and they keep it for only few years then replace with newer models so there are some of them will show up in the advisement or some case POCO do have for sale list as well

I think there is one dealership near me i think it called Dunco [ not sure if spelling is correct ] they have pretty good slection of med trucks.

By the way my med truck with 55 footer weight in just shy of 32,000 lbs [ of course i have to use the CDL for this one due airbrakes ] .

Merci, Marc

P.S. I think MD may have bucket truck but i am not sure what size he have so just a thought and he will help you as well for selecting right one for ya.

MD - I'm in NJ

Marc - we already have a 55' double bucket on a Ford F800 body...but it's big, bulky and you need a CDL..not all of our guys have a CDL

We are looking for a 1 ton to make things more cost effective to go and change 4 or 5 parking lot lights...things like that.

40'+ working height gives you a 35' to the bottom of the bucket. It's not rare.

I've found a bunch in the $20,000+ range. But, they are from places I never dealt with and most of them have high miles.

So, that is the reason for my post.

MD - which books, I get more than you can shake a stick at.

Electrical Advertiser, if you happen to get that one. Usually, the back 1/3 is bucket truck ads.

I buy from "Bucket Trucks, USA" in Gettysburg, PA. They tend to specialize in totally refurbished 1 tons. Most around 15K

Might want to give Brian a call, then. I've seen their shop. They have way more stuff in the pipeline then they ever have for sale at any given time. They make these things freaking immaculate. Brian lives down towards DC, and has his shop is Gettysburg.

I've been flipping through magazines, and I'm not seeing anything in the 40' area on a 1 ton chassis. Plenty on the 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 ton chassis (450's, 550's). They don't have air brakes, so they'd suit too. When you're up around 40 foot, you start to get into the articulating booms, which really drives the price up.

Try searching Brandywine Trucks, located in Brandywine MD.

Not a direct link but has some of their listings.
