Time limit on editing posts
I would like to suggest putting a time limit on editing posts.
It is bad when a thread is made entirely useless because the OP goes back and removes the original question, especially days or even weeks later.
Maybe a 10 or 15 minute limit. That's plenty long enough to correct spelling and grammar, or add a link that takes a few minutes to locate.

I think it's a good idea, but I think 10 or 15 is too short. Maybe an hour or two.

Once a reply has been posted, I suggest that further editing of the original post should be switched off for everyone except the moderators.
This would result in:
- Allowing one to make corrections in their own post after proofreading the posted message.
- Allowing the moderators to remove sensitive or offensive content at any time
- Keeping the threads content relavent, etc.

I think you need to give a guy a little time for regret... like firing off a post about a rough customer then regretting it later. That happens frequently. A guy will post a bit too much detail, then go back an hour or so later to make the post a lot more "generic" in the event that customer stumbles across it. It won't be clear that it was specifically about his situation.

I like your 1-2 hour idea, it works.

An hour is OK. I do want people to be able to correct posts, and even reconsider things.

1 hour is a fantastic idea. It drives me nuts when someone gets all up and arms about a comment and then goes back and deletes all of their posts just to be a butt head so nobody else can benefit from the discussion.

aye, seems to be a reasonable amount of time.
Other forums that i visit have a time limit in place, not really that big of a deal since I always catch typos right after I post it.

I disagree I think anybody should be able to edit or delete their post as they wish. Now if someone is just deliberately being a jackass and doing it all the time then that option should be limited.
