Default 1305 VFD convert to Powerflex 70 blue hose

Any one know if you can take the parameters from an Allen Bradley 1305 VFD Using a Gd1 1203 communication Module And load them to a powerflex 70 vfd using a 20 commr module. I have tried using drive executive i can upload parametes from both drives but cannot convert them. The HIM module on the 1305 is compatible with the powerflex 70 through adapter port #2. Right now i just manually enter them in.

There is no conversion tool from 1305 to PF70. You'll have to do it manually.

Yeah I kinda figured that, we just changed two 1305 vfds this week and converted them to powerflex 70. We uploaded the parameters to laptop to view them then we manually entered them to the power flex 70 VFD. Now that we have two drives with the correct parameter set, in the future we could just him copycat and download them to any new drives.

Have you tried here,

I went to an AB seminar the other week and was shown the Kinetix integrated motion controllers with the new sercos interface which A single fiber optic ring, serves as the sole interface between control and drive. It eliminates up to 18 discrete wires. The system also allows all the PLC's in a network to talk to each other, and allows changing I/O's from any PLC on one drive to another without physically going over to the drive at the other end of the plant to make the changes. Amasing stuff, but I can see problems with this - in that you would have to see the I/O's for what they are and not as positional points of reference to that particular drive.

Yeah i work with Kinetix 6000 servo drives we also have some ultra 3000 drives as well, We have Ethernet control logix L5000 series processors and we have the sercos comm. card interfacing the fiber optic loop. Pretty powerful stuff you can tune the servo from the plc, see the actual posistion, give various commands, see the current draw and reset faults and much more. Very easy to replace set the node address connect line, mtr leads, encoder cable, fiber optic and your done. Sercos Card is very easy to install slap it in the rack add it in the I/O configuration tree in RS5000 and thats it. We have packers that have multiple sevo axis on them. We have all are plcs networked together over ethernet and they send tags produced and consumed from plc to plc, we can acess the program anywhere over the server. All are remote I/O are on 1756 ethrernet IP cards and flex I/O modules, we have some plc 5s interface via DH Remote I/O on control logix rack as well. I believe eventually all conveyors. will be servo motors as they don't really require a gearbox they have tremendous amount of torque. We have Kuka robots at are plant as well and these things are servo driven no gearbox. And yes to answer your question it does impose problems. to many non qualified people make plc changes from the office and then they call us the electricians to figure out whats wrong. Its usually the plant engineers and the electrical supervisors who do this. I prefer to make program changes when i am standing in front of the machine wether it be on a server HMI or a wireless laptop so i could see how the process is being effected. I will work from the shop however when im working on panelview screens, pictures, alarms, not something that could effect the process or get someone hurt. And also on our conversion of 1305 drives to powerflex we had to make a few small plc program changes for some reason the powerflex wants to see the drive is running before you give it a stop command otherwise it was giving us nuisance faults. Thanks for your input guys
