Default 24 Volt Residential Switches

Here are a couple pictures. I'm trying to replace these switches. There are single and dual button switches and I've yet to find a supplier for new direct replacements. GE makes a few that are similar but are not a direct fit. Any suggestions where I can go?

Stick around. There are guys who know the names of those.
I have worked with them a couple of times but not in many years.
I do believe replacements are available.

Lurch....you are "The Man"...They've got the switches I need and even offer three different styles. I'll need to do some additional wiring to make my 3 wire system work with these two wire switches but they have a wiring guide for that on their website....!!!

Thanks...!

Default re. 24 volt switches

brad , if memory serves besides G.E. making those in the old days , there was also a company called REMCO . we used to come across them alot in long island many years ago. the relay looked like an old fluorescent starter that would get fed hot and the switch loop would be 2 or 3 wire low voltage cable.hope that helps. light.

You're welcome, It is nice when I can find a use for all this information on my desk.I have not worked on that system for a while, but I think you power down to the switch and by touching at the top you pull in the soilinode (sp) and touch the bottom, you pull out the same,so you may need the 3 wires

Just changed these to standard switches in a house. Worked just fine.... until the HO decided to take apart the master control and remove every wire. We told him we didn't have anyone old enough to remember these, and we would fish in switches for him.

Brad, there are 3 wire switches available. I got some early this year for the same GE system you are working on. They don't look like the originals and you need to purchase their cover plates to mount them. The switches are black momentary 3 pole rockers and the wall plates are stainless steel. They look much better than the old plastic ones, your customers will love them.I will find the receipt and post back with the info.

OK here's the site, scroll down to the RE-SW. You will see the switch and all the cover plates. These are Remcon switches, distributed by Fluke: http://www.tequipment.net/RemconR-115S.html

Touch Plate is great too, but I only use their stuff on Touch Plate systems.

You don't need the mounting bracket, it is nothing but a fancy plaster ring. The switches snap right into the cover plates.
