Default Alternative Energy Courses

I'm new to this forum and not sure if this is the right place to post this question. If there is a more appropriate place, please let me know.

Anyway, I'm currently a 4th year apprentice with aspirations of going solo. I've gotten interested in solar and wind energy installation as I feel it will be something that many people will be turning to in the future. I've been doing some research trying to find some courses that teach the ins and outs of site adequacy testing, installation, and everything else associated with these areas of the trade. But, I've come up empty so far. If anyone knows of any courses in Wisconsin or Minnesota, could you please let me know.

Thanks.

This is an area of big interest to me, too. You may know some of these things, but let me share them with you, just in case not:

Home Power magazine has all sorts of information on equipment, pertinent NEC, training, examples, etc. They'll have articles comparing turbines by model and size, calculations for grid-tied solar, etc. It's great stuff if, like me, you're justing getting into it. I have occasionally seen advertising for training in your area in the past.

Solar Energy International (SEI) offers hands-on training (though for an electrician, it might be pretty basic stuff-- then again, photovoltaics aren't that complicated to begin with). Check their web site.

NABCEP offers certifications for renewable energy installers. I think their web site mentions places where you can get training. All their requirements for certification are listed there, too.

I hope this helps.
