Default Aluminum MC

Is all mc aluminum now? I do mostly residential. so I don't use much. Are there any restrictions on aluminum besides not being able to use the set screw connectors? Out will be installed in a restaurant.

I've never used non-aluminum MC cable, so I don't know.

And if your connectors are listed and suitable for use on MC then there shouldn't be any issue in using them.

Are you talking large feeder size or branch circuit size conductors? You see a lot more large AL MC now days but they still make copper as far as I know.

Wait... are you talking about the conductors, or the jacket?

He may be talking about the jacket. I missed what he asked about the connectors.

Sounds to me like he wants to know if he can use the old set-screw style BX connectors for modern Al jacket MC. I know you're not supposed to, not sure if it would be acceptable if you had some of the "McTuff" steel-jacket MC.

Wire dude - yes thats what I meant.

Sorry I didn't add enough info. I meant copper wire with aluminum covering. I don't do much commercial.

I had used 4/0-4/0/-4/0-4/0-2 Al MC a couple years back for a commercial sub division. Great stuff at a great price to work with. I came in $20k cheaper than all the local guys bidding copper in EMT.
