Default Arc Fault breakers

I'm curious to know how other jurisdictions are handling the AFCI requirement in the new code. I was told AFCIs aren't required on circuits otherwise protected by GFCIs, such as kitchen and bathroom and garage, etc., but what about dedicated branch circuits to the washing machine, refrigerator, smokes, furnace, etc.?

Darned things are expensive, but if we ran them on all the branch circuits, would we still have to use GFCI receps in the kitchen and bathrooms and other such places we use them now?

Just wondering.

Default arcs

We use arc faults on everything but the kitchen counter and bathroom receptacles and any dedicated circuit, dishwasher, central vac, etc.. All we do is residential.

We are only required to use arc faults on bedroom circuits, and that is only on new wiring and renos, lets say doing a panel or service upgrade only, we don't have to put them in, only if the room (bedroom) is being wired(new) or rewired.
you can run an arc fault on the same circuit as a gfi as they do 2 different things, would not surprise me if some time down the road we see a combo breaker that does both and has to be installed for every circuit in a panel.
