Question BBQ, the party planner / What would you charge?

Next week we are providing the power for an outdoor party, just wondering what you guys would give for pricing.
  • Provide 75 - 120 volt 20 amp circuits spread out at tables in 1/2 dozen large tents
  • Provide about 10 additional circuits for lighting (lighting by others)
  • Remove, store and replace a 25' 3 headed site pole. (in the way of a tent)
  • Permits
  • Inspections
  • There is no power available so it must be a generator
  • Set up is one 10 hour day
  • The party runs the next two days 7 hours each
  • Pack it up after the party

Anyone want to ball park what they would have to charge for this?

On items #1 and #2, how are you going to deliver the power, from the generator ? SO cord ? above grade ?

If so, can you rent the cords ? I see them using that for temporary set-ups for TV productions.

This is a hard one but ...
I think I would rent distribution boxes with the generator as well as the so cords and curb covers so renatal fees and fuel would probably be around 3500 - 4000

uf sleeved in pvc where its exposed ... you have to consider your not just installing it but you have to uninstall it as well soo
12500 ..

removing the pole could be a bitch if the bolts are rusted out.

Probably include a man on site of course for 2 days

A broad guess in 3 minutes on a forum I would say somewhere around 16500

Admittedly I could be way off.

Interesting tho, I'm curious what it is that they need power at every table.

Before I worked for myself I was with a company that provided the power for the LPGA open. It was a nightmare, they built all there own temp services at each hole, such a waste of time, I also did a bunch of state fairs where we just set up large temp distribution boxes, the amount of time saved was phenomenal not to mention how much less damage was done to the turf.

SO type cords

150 KW redundant generator, feeder cable to one large distribution panel, smaller feeder cables to 3 smaller distribution panels, from there 20 amp branch circuits of 10/5 cords with thee circuits each to spider type boxes, cords from there to tables.

@ Gold- You figured that out fast !!!

@ BBQ - Sounds like you have all the nuts, and bolts, and can nail it down pretty

fast. I don't work with all that, so I'm out, or it would take me awhile to figure.

Once I learned the scale it seemed that the only way to go was what you describe above.

I ruled that out on looks alone, this is kind of a classy event.

They were, but I cut the extra inch of rusted threads off above the nuts so once I did get them loose I was all set. Three came loose with a large wrench one I had to heat.

Going with two the first day.

They only need power at 75 tables, there are many more tables without, it is more of a show than a party.

Yeah and it usually looks more professional.

I'm changing my original shoot from the hip price to $32,001 so I'm not the lowballer. But I will bring hot dogs and cokes.

If you want me to really price it I was thinking about what gold said, maybe a tad bit more depending on who I have to rent the stuff from.

You know you hook up with the right company tho like a carnival or circus or who knows the pga or whatever a few of these a year are a nice change of pace. I mean your working outside, no digging a lot of interesting people etc etc. I used to look forward to this stuff.

Make no mistake this is a large instalation,
With substancail public liabilitly risks associatted with it.
Do not cut corners,
price should be carefully considered.
Just the risk side is a nightmare!
I imagine the insurance would not be cheap.
