Did they spec. GRC coming into the gear? With clearances that close, I would've tried to get PVC so I could run each phase in a pipe. Would've made the termination a lot easier.

Then you got to cut a channel through to each k.o and use aluminum locknuts....If i ask for aluminum locknuts my supply guy would think im nuts.......It would install alot easier though...

It looks to me like it comes through the pour into open bottom gear, that's the only reason I suggested it. It'd be easy.

600s are about 12 to 13. I'd guess 1000s are about the mid 20s.
I have never used most stuff we see is 600s. Once it is over that it is time to parallel.
That one huge piece of gear though. Looks like 10 or 12 sets. FRICKIN huge...

Yeah, I've never worked with anything bigger than 600. The last large company I worked for had a company policy to parallel anything over 600. In the install pictured they are already paralleled and they are using 1000. I don't have the book with me so I can't compute the amperage but yeah, it's huge. That's a lot of fault current.

Can't say as I've ever seen 1000 MCM. Wouldn't be anything I'd spec on my own.

The OP's pictures really don't do justice to how massive it is.

If those are standard 40x48 pallets, that stuff looks like it must be 1-1/2" in diameter, or thereabouts.

What a cluster f*ck.
Pretty typical for New Orleans, though.
You don't work for TBI, do you?
