Default broken wire spools

I have just about had a gutfull of those cheap plastic wire spools that #12 and #10 come on now. We have no supply house here so everything gets shipped ups or freight. Open up the boxes and the ends are all cracked or broken off. Can't even look at one and it breaks, never mind dropping it. What a giant pain. y'know? Just about have to have two men now at the wire cart, one to push and one just to keep all that mess under control. Sorry, just had to let it out.

Should have been around when it came in boxes. It could turn ugly quick especially in the hands of an apprentice.

They should put wire on metal spools again. If it meant an extra dollar or two to the cost, I would gladly pay it to not have to deal with the aggravation of broken spools.

If that is the worst thing you deal with on the job, you are very fortunate!

I loathe those plastic spools myself, but they are far down the list of bad things I deal with.

I havent seen the plastic spools in a long time. The few I have seen were roll ends that have traveled from other jobs.

Might just be one manufacturer?

That said, the rolls with the wood ends, our #6 has it, almost always break, and 480 that link is perfect!

What brands of wire do you have in Canada? Is any of it imported from the United States?

I'm guessing Canadian wire manufacturers still use metal spools.

Just the opposite for me. It's always plastic. I still have some old metal spools the oddball colors (purple, pink) that are still rattling around from job to job.

Yup, Sparky's Bar and Grille. I'm planning on being the chef. 480 is going to be the nightly entertainment.

I called every local distributor (8 or 10) I could think of one day a year or two ago begging to get all my wire there if they just could get it on metal spools.

No luck.
