Can anyone help me?
I'm a young home owner in a 50 or so year old home. I just had the ballast of a ceiling fixture go bad so I'm trying to replace it with a normal fixture. After I took the flourescent fixture out and looking into the junction box there are 8 wires... 4 black wires and 4 white wires. 3 of the black wires are connected together and the other is by itself. All of the white wires were wrapped up with tape.
Is there an easy way for me to know which is hot and neutral out of those 8 wires?

timstone, it's not a matter of not wanting to help you, we can't.
This forum is a place for professionals to exchange ideas, experience and information with other professionals in the electrical field. It would be irresponsible of anyone to give advice concerning possibly hazardous acts or conditions to some one with no electrical background. Please call a licensed, insured electrician to help you with your problem. Good luck!

Would you go to a doctors' fourm and ask about the pain you've been feeling?
Would you go to a lawyers' forum and ask for legal counsul?
Would you go to a pilots' forum and ask how to fly an airplane?
