Default Career advice

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and new to the trade. I've recently become a registered Apprentice and I'm trying to figure out a good path to follow to a obtain license. One of my issues is the 144hours of required classrom time. I am considering the community college after many failed attempts to find good classes through supply houses in my area. Do any of you have any suggestions? I need a guidance counselor!!

AS a registered apprentice I assume you are attending apprentice classes? Working with a approved contractor?. If so sit back and work hard the 144 will pass before you know it. Time Flies, I could no wait to get my license and counted the days, now it has been 38 years and I can not believe how fast it flew by. Chill.

Welcome to the forum. Have you talked to anyone from the state unemployment office about classes? My daughter's bf has gotten some help and good advice from them here in NJ. They even paid for part of the classes, based on him attending.

Well, becoming a registered apprentice in MI pretty much consists of having the Master I'm working under vouch for me and sending in $5. No classes required. I guess I'm just eager to get knowledge and some class time under my belt. I do work for a licensed Mechanical Contractor. But I haven't taken any classes to date. Anything I know has come from o.t.j. or books I've read on my own. I'd like to spend the 4 years learning and preparing. Honestly I don't believe my boss has enough time/money to invest in me to get me where I need to be, so I'm trying to accomplish what I can on my own. And another thing is that as a mechanical contractor I'm doing different things everyday i.e. changing filters in a/c units and picking up materials. Not strictly electrical everyday. So it gets a bit frustrating.
