No matter what, be honest and open about it when the subject comes up. Chances are, they'll view it as "His debt to society has been paid."

Leaving the question blank on an application, or outright lying about it, will most likely keep you from getting an interview, and get you fired in a hearbeat if you get hired and they find out later.

At least your crime was not at any one person. there's always insinuating circumstances that can be explained and especially when there was no "criminal intent". Good luck.

Depends on each JATC. Just don't omit or lie on your application. Also, keep in mind that the "receptionist" is the one who probably processes all applications and sees who is accepted or not. She probably does know what makes a good/acceptable candidate.

There are a lot of people looking for work and if someone is as qualified as you with no criminal record, they will probably get the job. You need be able to do or provide something that makes you a better candidate for the job than the average joe. My two cents at least.

That was my thought it gives them at least one reason not to look at you application.

In my area it would totally screw you, all our apprentices need to be able to obtain a government clearance.

I wouldn't be able to hire you, and that's all I can say, for sure. I might suggest you invest in an attorney to petition the court to have the record expunged if it's been a good number of years.
