Question Distribution Box

I hope I am stating this properly. When figuring amps in a home and you have a 200 amp box but 350 amps of breakers isn't there a rule of thumb or formula on the percentage of usage? In other words not everything will be on at one time but I know there has to be a limit. Is this thinking correct.
Thanks for your help.

Paul, I hate to sound rude, but how long have you been doing electrical work? This sounds like a DIY question.

The sum of the breakers is of ABSOLUTELY NO consequence. It is a meaningless number.

Do you know what a load calculation is?
