Is this the easiest way to do this?
Have someone that wants a motion light that can be turned on, off and on the motion detector. My mind says a hand off auto is the only way to go. Tell me if I am wrong.

I usually in stall them with a switch...a quick on/off at switch will turn light on and it will stay on till ya turn it off for a few seconds then it defaults back to settings...is that what you mean???

I'm with RGH. There are fixtures that come with this capability built in, all you have to do is wire them to a switch.

Rab is the only way to go, and I would put it on a switch also and maybe a switch guard if needed to protect it from being turned off by mistake

Feed it with a 3 wire from a 3way switch. Put a sp switch in ahead of the three way for 'power' Up is light on, down is motion light. Does this work for application?

Just want to weigh-in on this real quick. RAB Stealth is the ONLY motion sensor I will supply. They cost 3x as much as the ones at the box stores, but are the most reliable by far! I always tell my clients I will provide RABs or install whatever they purchase, but RAB is the only ones I will guarantee. I made an exception a couple of years ago to a very nice elderly lady who is on a fixed income and really couldn't afford the RABs. I picked-up 3 Heath Zenith units @ the big blue box instead. Within the following couple of months, I had to replace 2 of them! Lesson learned!

Most of them do exactly what you describe simply by using your standard single pole switch in accordance with the instructions. Ie on, off for so many seconds, back on and it stays on.
The only motion lights I have had luck with are heath zenith, never tried the rab before.

I tried that, thats what led me to the HOA. The three way and sp switch combo did not work.

I drew it out but it was either on or off. No motion, motion was feed from one leg of spdt switch. Light was fed from other leg. You say sp in front of three way, i put it as the break on the load side of the motion switch....

I guess even simpler would be two sp switches in parallel, if the electronics could take it. Anyone ever tried that?

Thanks, now for the I am stupid part. What gives by energizing the load side of the motion switch? It does nothing cause the switch is NO?

No, sp on line side of 3 way should work fine.
