I passed a final today that I had no expectation of passing.
About six months ago, I gave a quote to rewire a house. Built in 1925, knob and tube, two wire romex, three wire romex, and some single pieces of THHN thrown about just for good measure, it was the worst electrical system I have seen. The service consisted of #6 SEU cable on the wall, the meter base that is the same diameter as the meter, then #6 SEU inside into a MLO panel with no cover, and three disconnects tapped into the line side of the panel.
I had not heard anything from the customer and assumed I had lost the job until TS Fay ripped the SEU cable off the side of the house. I set a new metermain, new riser, and new grounding. The customer didn't want to fix the interior issues as they are planning to have me rewire the house next month (yeah!).
It was inspected this morning and passed-I could not believe it. Exposed SEU and no nuetral to the interior panel.
I'm not bragging about "getting one past the inspector", I told him the whole situation. I just wanted to remind everyone that inspectors are people too, and sometimes being open and honest can get you a little gift

.
When I start ripping out the interior items, I'll make sure to get some pics of the "Electrical Room"
