Default Insulation testing

Insulation testing
I am dealing with a home that was struck by lightning. Damage was pretty minor, some cooked GFCI's and smoke detectors. There may also have been damage to some of the building wire, two outlets in an AFCI protected bedroom cooked everything that was plugged into them ( lamp, lv xfmr for something, etc.) Electrical inspector had me replace wiring between two outlets and obviuosly install new devices, however he also wants me to perform an insulation test on that and some adjacent circuits. I have done "meggering" on larger building wire, but was looking for some guidelines to testing branch circuit wiring. I purchased a relatively inexpensive ($200) insulation tester that I am pretty sure will accomplish what I need. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
