Default klien warranty gone down hill

went to have my klien conduit tool replaced at the supply house yesterday. The blade for the 3/4 emt broke off and the screw driver part has chipped on the ends . guy replaced the lil reamer clip but said he wasnt sure if he could get his money back said that klien might not warranty that part of the tool. lowes is a big hassle these days to try take tools back they want you to deal direct. What has happened to kliens warranty? seems their tools just arent what they used to be

Most makers of tools do not warranty blades, and that's what broke on yours.

My local supply house dropped Klein last year because the rep never showed up to take care of warranty issues. This is a 21 branch supply chain covering 3 states and they were having the same problem with all of the Klein reps. They switched to Ideal tools. I have a few and like them just as well. I do like the Klein tradition though.

I have had the same blade in both of mine for the last several years and they get used daily. Maybe you need to look at what type of blade your cutting the conduit with that leaves bad burrs. As for the screwdriver tip, if it is the one recessed into a sleeve, I don't see how you would break off the ends. Klein warranty returns depend on who you are dealing with as a supply house, they don't want to waste time returning stuff and following up with all the paperwork. A supply house that cares more about customer service will handle things better. One of the Carrier parts centers I deal with has a policy of giving you a new tool and they take care of the rest, I have never had an issue with them, other places do often want you to send the tools back at your exspence.

I dunno how the screw driver part broke I use the tool as it is intended but guy wouldnt warranty that part just the blades part. The guy gave a big speech how the klien rep used to warranty everything but nowadays doesnt hardly warranty anything. Used to just be able show em what was wrong they replace it no prob now its a process to get anything klien replaced

Maybe it is a local thing, BUT I ALWAYS THOUGHT KLIEN WARRANTY SUCKED, Had 9" Klein's break one time took 6 months to finally get an answer NO WARRANTY, they felt I abused them, They were basically new normal wear and tear.

Those are facts. As my great mentor used to preach "Steve, we can only support a few supply houses. Treat them well, and they will reply in kind, but always check their invoices"

Still good advice

Best Wishes Everyone in 2008
