laid off.... (again)
this year i have had to work for three different contractors because of the work situation.
i was asked to help out with this electrical crew and i was there for the last four months. i got a call after work today that i will be off next week, and im getting worried about the following ones.
is anyone else here frustrated with this economy? im a 3rd year apprentice, i like to think i work hard, but i have been laid off 3 times. sometimes i just feel like i have not done enough and im the excess fat that gets trimmed so to speak.
so i was just curious if you guys have any suggestions for dealing with this economy. im gonna talk to my boss this monday and see what he thought of my job performance, its really nagging at me now.

Sorry to hear about your situation.
All I can say is don't let electrical work be your only source of income, diversify. Look into other things as well, now may be the perfect time for school, etc....

i agree 100%! i posted before about lineman school. i have some money saved up so i can afford going to a good lineman school near to me. it seems like lineman have a little more stable work so i am leaning to that. plus i have a pretty good work history with electrical so i think that would help. i dunno... im really trying to tap into some of the ideas of the more seasoned vets out here hehe.

Not to mention one mistake with HV usually ends in a serious injury or death.

The longer you wait to go to school, the longer you will wait to make the good money. You wanted to hear from some "seasoned vets" so there you go.

Not many young people would have taken that laborers job. Its not your performance that gets you laid off. Talk to your boss. I will bet you feel so much better. Good Luck or make some Good Luck!
