Smile Move from the Uk to the USA

Hey guys, im a 2nd year apprentice in the UK and will be starting my final year in september, i am hoping (would swim if required) to move to the US (Florida) and from my research i am assuming the only way to do this is to have a job offer from a US company. I am just crurious if any of you have oved from the UK and if s how you did it, also do any of you work for companies which have employed people from England?

Thank you

I see you're moving from one socialist country to another. You'll feel right at home.

You need to have a job and a sponsor, my wife moved here from Portsmouth 30 years ago.

Would you consider somewhere besides Florida at this time the job market there is SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Washington DC is pretty warm at this time. Oh and the constant heat and humidity would kill your UK senses.

My current boss hired 2 to drywall his house.

Boss leaves, and I didn't take lunch yet, so I call him and let him know I haven't eaten, but the mexicans are already back and working. He told me to leave because he would be back soon, so I figured I'd wait and break up the day a little with a later lunch.

One of the mexicans call one of their buddies, and this blinged out Ford pulls up and these 2 other mexicans start chatting with the guys we hired. I was around the house putting the panel together, but I'm keeping my eye on them.

Slowly but surely these two guys make their way into the house.

Nuh-uh.

I walk in and ask who the other two were and our guy says 'friends'.

"No friends, they have to stay outside.", I say.

One of them is probably insulting me in spanish as he walks out and I go back to the panel, he's yelling something at me, revving his engine and speeds off. I didn't even give him a second glance.

If I had to keep working with these fools I'd start packing.

Olib1990

I worked with an apprentice from London a few years ago down in Florida. He was a good electrician; he had had the heavy "bloke" accent that the ladies loved. Being "African British" he sounded like the Geico gecko and looked like Dave Chappell. Had a security guard give him a hard time once, he thought the apprentice was messing with him.

lol nice to see so many replies. Well we have ust returned from a holiday in florida and i have been twice before, its the only place in the US i have been and all of my immediate family want to move. Id love to be able to move and just look around for a couple of months to find a job, but what i gather from the US embassy website for England is that you have to have a job offer to move. It would be atleast 2 years until i were in a position to move as my fiance is studing law at university and her course is 3/4 years depending on if she wants to be a solicitor.

I am a aprentice at a textile mnufacturer and so i will have all the skills to work in industrial and will need abit of experience in domestic, do any of you know about a course i may have to complete to be able to work as a US electrician as ofc the regs etc are different.

Thanks

Every place I have ever visited (besides Kansas) I have wanted to move to, the old grass is always greener. Heck I wanted to move to the UK at one time.
