Default My Easiest Friday In A Long Time

Got called about backhoe tearing up an underground conduit.

It was Friday morning and they wanted a fast fix. I pulled the wire out (j-box was about 30 feet away). Replaced conduit, but I didn't have my Dremel to remove the stop in a PVC coupling, so I threw on a plumbers band-aid.

I even wrapped it with tape just so it looked good.

Got a quick $300 and headed toward home.

Got a text from the gal who cuts my hair. As her lights were flickering in the bathroom, she heard the Powell Electric commercial on KNBC. They have a jingle "We'll fix it in a flash." But I get the call (text). When I get there, I call SCE for a lock removal and hang out and have lunch with her daughter. Her daughter is friends with my son, so no rude comments, please. Edison shows up in 45 minutes to pull the lock. By this time, I'm in the garage drinking a beer with the husband. Pull the meter, remove the main, clean the buss and pop in a new breaker.

Collect my $40 for the cost of the breaker, have a couple of more beers and I'm on my way. Oh ya, free haircuts for a year.

Do you think the repair will last more than a year? I am guessing it might, but not more than 2 years. Sell them a new panel. you'll be happier and so will they.
